My gift is my song, and this one’s for you.
I absolutely adore this movie musical. It may be over-edited, entirely too over the top, but so brilliantly campy while the covers and reinterpretations of songs are so wonderful that even though the ending is so sad, you still believe in truth, beauty, freedom, and are in love with love itself. I’m so glad I can take a class where my final involves this film. And Ewan McGregor? Swoon.
You probably hate this musical like everyone else I’ve ever met.

F is for Feist, in honor of Friday - Inside and Out (Bee Gees Cover)
Funky and feelin’ it. F is also for Finals, and the potential grade that I am going to get on each of them. After four hours of sleep, how psyched are you that I remembered to post a cover?
Currently watching The Hills Have Eyes. Shit’s kind of fucked up.

Cat Power - Sea of Love (Phil Phillips)
Something a little lovey-dovey. How could she drink herself into oblivion, yet sing in such a way that you just want to cuddle up to her?

Joss Stone - Son of a Preacher Man (Dusty Springfield)
Made famous by Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction, and to a lesser extent, Jan Levinson on “The Office.” I’m feeling sassy, and I dig Joss’ throaty-ness on this one.

Fiona Apple - Angel (Jimi Hendrix)
Her “Across the Universe” is great, but I don’t know a lot of people who’ve heard this one. A lot of hoopla has been up lately about how Jimi was possibly murdered, but I’m pretty sure it’s all a publicity stunt over this new book out about his life. But this song pretty much sums up his being.
